A refrigerated container or reefer is an intermodal container (shipping unit) that is set to freeze or chill
for transportation of temperature sensitive cargo.
To simply explain, refrigerated containers are big fridge/freezers that are used to transport temperature controlled cargo such as fruits, meat, fish, seafood, vegetables, dairy and also non-food products such as flowers, pharmaceuticals and film across the world. Some cargo may need to be shipped chilled or frozen or in controlled + temperatures.
Reefer containers have the ability to maintain the cargo at the required temperatures for the duration of the transit keeping the cargo fresh. At Universal Containers, we provide refrigerated containers in both 20 foot and 40 foot sizes and with temperatures as low as -25 degrees, they are ideal for the catering industry.
